Moose Jaw Area Farmers Can Recycle Silage Bags, Bale Wrap and Twine in Half-day Pop-up Pilot

MOOSE JAW, Saskatchewan (July 8, 2022) – Producers in the Moose Jaw area can jump on a half-day, pop-up pilot project to recycle farm silage bags, bale wrap and baler twine.

Cleanfarms, in cooperation with the Moose Jaw Recycling Centre (MJRC), is conducting the recycling event on Wednesday, July 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. only. The event will help producers clear some of these used ag plastics off their farms.

Between now and next Wednesday morning producers can stop by the recycling centre to pick up free large ag plastic collection bags to use to collect and transport the ag plastic materials. Separate bags must be used for each type of plastic material.

Silage wrap and bale wrap should be folded and placed into separate bags. Baler twine should be placed in a separate bag. There is no limit on the amount producers can drop off for recycling, as long as the twine, silage bags and bale wrap are separately bagged and the tops of the bags securely tied.

If producers are unable to attend this event, scheduled drop offs may be available by booking with MJRC at 306-693-3867.

Cleanfarms is also accepting grain bags…rolled or unrolled. They’ll be rolled on-site free of charge.

More information on the half-day, pop-up ag plastic recycling event can be found on the Cleanfarms websites at cleanfarms.ca/expanding-ag-recycling-in-saskatchewan/.
