An initiative of the agricultural sector, municipalities and CleanFARMS, the program aims to recover sugar bush tubing and move toward zero plastic waste in agriculture. This project is helping to set up a major infrastructure network for the collection of maple sap tubing, by offering maple syrup producers a recovery and recycling service for these materials.
To ensure that your tubing is accepted and can be recycled, here are the preparation steps:
- Remove spindle and related metal parts.
- Separate mainlines from 5/16″ tubes. Plastic connectors and spouts connected to tubing will be accepted.
- Ensure that the tubing returned to the drop-off point is clean: free of paint, other plastics or contaminants.
- Bring to drop-off point.
