Cleanfarms is a national not-for-profit stewardship organization operating the multi-year ‘Alberta Ag Plastic. Recycle It!’ pilot program to collect used agricultural grain bags and plastic baler twine for recycling. The pilot project is led by the multi-stakeholder Agricultural Plastics Recycling Group (APRG); funds were granted by the Government of Alberta and are administered by Alberta Beef Producers.
As part of Cleanfarms’ continued efforts to educate Alberta farming communities about how to prepare and recycle agricultural plastics once used on the farm, it is conducting a used plastic baler twine collection contest to encourage environmental sustainability among the next generation of Alberta farmers. The pilot program funds the prizes for the contest.
