Cleanfarms Announces new Director of Western Canada

Davin Johnson with pesticide and fertilizer containers (<23L) in Alberta, ready to be dropped off at a Cleanfarms collection site.

Etobicoke, ON – September 9, 2026 – Cleanfarms is pleased to announce Davin Johnson as the new Director of Western Canada for the organization.

Johnson brings a wealth of in-house experience to the position. He first joined the organization in 2015 as a site supervisor for the Unwanted Pesticides and Livestock Medications (UPLM) collection program and continued to support multiple collection events across Western Canada in subsequent years. In 2019, he worked with Cleanfarms as a contractor to help develop the foundation of the “Alberta Ag-Plastic. Recycle It!” pilot program before joining the organization full-time in January 2020 as Alberta Program Advisor. Since then, he has lead Cleanfarms’ stewardship programs in Alberta while working closely with producers, municipalities, industry partners, recyclers, and government to expand recycling initiatives and support program development across Canada’s western provinces.

“Resilience is synonymous with Western Canada,” says Johnson. “We’ve seen that firsthand through the success and growth of our programs. The hard work and commitment of our team, along with the support of farmers, retailers, rural municipalities, recyclers, and our member companies, has created a strong foundation to build on. As Western Director, I look forward to helping grow and strengthen our stewardship programs, supporting innovation, and pursuing new opportunities to make agricultural recycling more accessible for farmers across the region.”

Shane Hedderson, Cleanfarms Executive Director and former Director of Western Canada adds, “Having worked with Davin since he first joined Cleanfarms, Director of Western Canada is an obvious fit. His commitment to forging new paths for Western Canadian farmers to participate in sustainable waste management will be a valuable asset in this role.”
