The majority of Cleanfarms members have joined the organization to ensure that their customers have access to end-of-life stewardship programs for the products/packaging they use and/or to meet provincial regulatory requirements. These members are categorized as Active Members (as per the Cleanfarms bylaws).
Cleanfarms has another class of membership, Associate Membership, that was created to provide a way for companies that supply products or services to Active Members or play another important role in agriculture, to be part of the organization.
Cleanfarms Associate Members are often ag-retailers, container or packaging manufacturers or trade associations.
Associate Members choose to be part of Cleanfarms so that they can contribute to the success of existing and new programs and help execute Cleanfarms’ strategic priorities. Associate Members typically have an interest in improving the recyclability of containers and are working towards ways to incorporate recycled content into ag plastics and packaging.
Ag-retailers who are Associate Members are taking a step above their already important role of acting as collection sites. They can contribute to decision-making around the industry’s stewardship programs.
Associate Members are active and engaged in the industry’s end of life stewardship programs and are working collaboratively towards more sustainable packaging. Membership signals a commitment to corporate sustainability and tangible action on plastics management.
